What to Expect

How do I schedule my first appointment?

When you call or visit Crisis & Counseling Centers (C&C) for the first time, Central Access provides a private, initial 15 minute assessment to learn more about you and your needs. You’ll have an opportunity to interact with our helpful staff and find out how we can be your partner in creating a more rewarding life for yourself and those you care about.

Prospective clients are able to refer themselves to C&C, meaning you do not need a formal referral from your primary care physician. However, it’s often helpful for our clinicians to have background information from your family doctor, if possible.

When you come to C&C for help, your safety is our top priority. It’s important to remember that the questions we ask are necessary in order to find the right treatment and keep you safe. We are here to help you, so please be honest with us about your behavioral health history.

In order to protect your privacy, we ask if any of your family members receive outpatient services at C&C. To avoid a conflict of interest, we will place you with a different counselor than that of your relative. Or, if you have a family member who is employed by C&C, we will refer you to another respected behavioral health agency to protect your privacy.

Call 207.626.3448 to schedule your first appointment.

How do I pay for services?

As we try to match you with an appropriate clinician, we ask whether you have health insurance and the name of your insurance provider. Crisis & Counseling Centers accepts most private insurances and MaineCare. In fact, Central Access can check the MaineCare website during the screening meeting to review your coverage.

We are also able to offer some assistance to some individuals who may be uninsured or underinsured.
